It is incredible what you can see in this country when you travel in an RV. The desert is a place of wonder! It is filled with unique geology, wildlife and is overall very extreme. This makes it more enticing. You can visit extreme areas with all the luxuries of your RV. Here are 3 things to do for a Desert RV Adventure!
Dive in the Desert
The Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM is one of the most famous dive spots in the US. It is FREE to stop in and go swimming. To dive you can get a permit and dive this beautiful artesian well. The water is crystal clear and 80 ft. deep. They have a huge parking lot to fit large RVs.
Kids love to jump in during the summer heat and everyone else should bring your wetsuit. The water stays at a nice 62 degrees year round. They have bathrooms to change in, but if you are an RVer you can change in your RV. They have an easy access walk in or on the opposite side you can cliff jump into the water if you're feeling daring.
Sledding the Dunes
White Sands National Monument is a great place to spend the day hiking and walking the dunes. It is the largest Gypsum dune field in the world. The scenic loop road is RV friendly.
Another common activity here is Sledding the Dunes! You can bring your own sled or buy one at the gift shop.
A good desert hike can be a therapeutic experience. Saguaro National Park near Tucson AZ is the perfect spot for a desert hike through cacti. The Saguaro Cactus is the largest in the world. A 20 ft. cactus weighs around 2,000 pounds. Keep in mind whenever hiking in the desert to bring plenty of water and be prepared for rapid temperature changes.
